The 4th of July is quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays thanks to an annual tradition started by a some great friends of ours. It pays to know people in high places and as a result we get to spend the 4th of July with a private seat at a local country club’s fireworks display. No crowds. No traffic. Just friends.

First, find a cupcake. Any old cupcake will do. Even one that has been sitting on the ground. Whatever floats your boat.

Then, get a good grip on it. You don’t want it slipping away from you.

Lastly, eat it. All of it.

Pay no attention to the people around you. As long as there is cupcake in your hands keep eating. In fact, eat the wrapper, too. It’s safe for human consumption, right?

Afterwards, if you’re really lucky, some sucker will wash all that icing off of you.

I may be the only person in the world who thinks this video is funny. But, Kai’s retelling of the story of Adam & Eve just cracks me up.

(Please ignore the annoying Sesame Street background noise. I just happened to catch this moment on the fly and didn’t have time to make sure the TV was off in the other room.)

I bought this doorway jumper 4 years ago at a consignment sale. I think I paid $6. I would gladly have paid $60 for all the hours and hours of entertainment it has given my babies. And I have at least two kids who have bounced themselves right to sleep in it. I only wish they made them for 5-year-olds…

A Family Tradition

We apparently have a tradition in this family that takes place at the ripe old age of 3. And it involves getting yourself stuck in a chair and having to be extracted from said chair by either dismantling of the chair (top picture) or contorting your body into complicated yoga positions to slide out of the chair (bottom picture). I guess it is a Loving family rite of passage.

I can’t wait to see what their baby brother comes up with…
